Fun Day 2019
Sometimes there is no specific reason - just for the fun of it. On a hot Saturday afternoon, everyone got confused. Maybe by the heat, but mostly by the bizzarre games we were faced with. Many of the pictures below reflect the head-scratching, rule-consulting, complex counting we were faced with. But it was a fun time, topped by BBQ and pot-luck salads and sweets. This event took lots of volunteers to set up and run. Thanks to them all.
White Night 2019
What a beautiful night to bowl under the lights! Good turn-out for a George's treat, a 10-end game and Kevin's cheesecake afterward. Wow!!
Christie Tournament (60+ Mixed Triples)
It was hot, hot, HOT!! But with a cold lunch plate and plenty of water we managed to survive. Thanks to Peter Boudreau for organization, the kitchen staff directed by Susan Wroe, Lew Withrow for grounds supervision and all their associated volunteers. We also much appreciated having Margaret Embree and family present to represent the Christies. The background balloon was not hired by us, but it was a nice touch.....
RESULTS
It is worth pointing out that both winning team and runners-up finished with prefect records (3 wins) and placement was decided by a 3-point difference. Both 3rd and 4th Place teams had 2-1 records and the placement was decided by a 1-point difference!

The day started out cold and wet but we persisted. By the time we finished a game of spider, a10-end bowls game and had our coffee and sundaes, it was actually bright outside! New members were presented with their name tags, and a presentation was made to the winning team in the 10-end game (Hector, Stephanie, and Sharon).
Janet Merry Mixed Pairs Tournament, June 2019
We opened the club for the season on Saturday 1 June on a lovely sunny day. It was the 22nd annual Janet Merry tournament. Eighteen teams with all six Nova Scotia clubs represented kept the club very active all weekend. The Lawn Bowls warriors braved the elements on Sunday. To put it mildly------it was a wet day.
The players persisted to the end with the following results:
4th place-----Dartmouth team of Vince Landry and Heather Salmon
3rd place-----Bridgetown team of Tammy Foster-Veinot and Braeden Campbell
2nd place-----Runners up Bedford team of Carolyn Reeves and Peter Boudreau
1st place-----Winning team from Bridgetown Jacki Foster and Mike Stewart
Open House, 2019
It was a wet day in May (as might be expected this year!) but quite a few intrepid souls turned out to see what the game of lawn bowls is all about. We had lots of volunteers with the enthusiasm and energy to keep our visitors interested. Many signed on for further training and we hope for lots of new members from this effort.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
